DIY: Hair Bows

Hello all!  Here is another fun and easy DIY for you.  Cute hair bows that anybody can make. You can make little bows or big bows.  I got the steps from www.domesticfashionista.com.  Usually if I do things a little different I would take pictures, but since I did everything exactly like how she did it, I decided to just show her steps.  Let me know if you have any questions and have fun with it =)  This floral fabric was from a skirt that I alter and I saved the extra fabric.  So, you could just take a old t-shirt that you don't want and use it.  Comment me below if you do try the DIY, so I can see how your bows turn out.  Have a great day!

Supplies:
-Fabric
-Needle
-Thread
-Some type of hair clip {or you can always bobby pin it into your hair}
-Hot glue

1. Cut rectangular piece of fabric.  The bigger the piece, the larger the bow.
2. Hold over the top and bottom.
3. Fold again to tuck in non-sewn edge.
4 and 5. Fold over right and left side of fabric so they slightly overlap in the middle.
6 and 7. Hand stitch the two sides up the center.
8. Pull the thread so that the bow gets cinched in the center and wrap remaining thread around center and tie.
9. Cut a small piece of fabric for the bow's center.
10. Fold over the top and bottom so they overlap and hide frayed edge.
11. Wrap around bow.
12. Hot glue to bow.
13. Hot glue hair clip to back.

Walk-In Closet

I'm planning to turn the smallest bedroom in my new house into my own walk in closet.  All day today I have been looking at pictures to inspire me.  Here are a few that I LOVE!  I definitly want to have floral wallpaper on one side of the wall and paint the rest.  I want my room to be colorful and inspring.  How cute is the idea of using a cupcake tray as a jewelery holder?  :)  Also, I love the idea of buying old furniture and fixing it up.

So, yesterday I went to Goodwill and I found the perfect dresser to fix up.  It was only $9.99 and it already has floral knobs.  I practically scream with joy in the store.  LOL.  I'm not sure what color I'm going to paint it yet.  Maybe, mint green??? What color do you think I should paint it?   The thing that sucks is that since I still live in an apartment I won't be able to paint it until I move, and that won't be until June.  :(  But bare with me, I promise to show you after pictures when I'm done.

I've been tagged!

It's been awhile but I promise I will get better at blogging.  Who knew that buying a house would be so hetic!  I've gone through so many emotions with this house buying process.  I just can't wait for it to be over.  Anyways, a while back I was tagged by Jo from the http://www.thelittledandy.com/.  I'm so sorry for the late response but here you go.  I want to nominate every one of my followers to do this tagged and then comment me below.  I would love to read your answers!  :)

1. When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging in February of 2012.  I have always love reading other people's blog, but never thought of starting my own until a few close friends convinced me to start.  I just wanted to share my fashion style with everyone.

2. What would you say is the  most covered topic on your blog?
Hrmm, definitily thrifting.  It's a big part of my style.

3. Do you prefer lace or studs?
Studs!  Lace sometimes can be too itchy.

4. What is your favourite meal of the day?
Lunch.  I'm usually too busy for breakfast and I have night classes so my dinner is pretty plain. I always make sure to eat good for lunch :)

5. Single or taken?  Here you can gush to all of us about your current significant other! =)
No comment :)  I like to keep my personal life to myself.

6. Do you prefer pants and a shirt, or a sweet dress?
I prefer pants and a shirt.  I just like to be comfortable.

7. Are you a coffee or tea type of girl?
Neither.  The only thing I drink is water.

8. What state/province (and country) are you from, and what is your state/province best known for?  (You do not need to specify city!)
I am from the Midwest of the USA.   I guess we are well known for snow.

9. Can you justify spending over $1000 on a bag.  Explain.
NO WAY!!!!  I rather go thrifting with that money!

10. How do you like your hair?  Long/short?  Bangs/no bangs? Dyed/natural?  Straight/curly?
I have always have bangs and now that they are long, I feel that it looks weird on me.  But I want a change so I'm going to try my hardest not to cut them.  I also like my hair long.

11. If you could meet anyone in the world for a lunch date (and I mean ANYONE, dead or alive, famous or a hobo..) who would it be and why?
Wow, I have so many people I would want to choose for a lunch date.  haha, hrmm I guess if I really had to only choose only one it would be Dwyane Wade.  Especially since the NBA playoffs are starting.  LOL.  I love watching basketball and I'm a big Dwyane Wade fan.  Growing up I was a big tomboy, so yeah I'm pretty much a sports fanatic.

Hope this help my followers learn a little about me :)  Let me know if you have any other questions and tomorrow I will be posting more fashion related things.

Weekly Thrift Finds #2

So sorry for the late post.  I have been sick, the last few days.  Anyways, here are few of my thrifting finds from last week.  I didn't get to go thrfting as much, due to being sick, but I was still happy with all my finds.  First off, I bought 4 vintage dresses.  They were only $2 each so I couldn't resist.  I do plan to alter them a little, so I'm going to save them to show you in my next post.  My mom is going to give me her old sewing machine and teach me how to use it.  Hopefully it will all go well.  I will make sure to show before and after pictures.  In the meantime,  here is a little teaser =)

Up next, I found three pair of shoes from Target that were at Goodwill for only $3.99 each.  I think Target donates some of their things when they can't sell it, since they need to make room for new inventory.  The weird thing is that one of the boots is still for sale on their website for $29.99.  So, basically I was able to save tons of money on three brand new shoes!

I was so happy to purchase the black wedge boots in the middle.  I have been wanting to get them all winter season but didn't want to pay 30 bucks for them.  The only bad part was that these are a size 5 1/2.  I wear a 6 and 6 1/2 but for $3.99, I will make them fit.  LOL.  They are a little tight but I will deal with it.

Next, I found some gold chain necklaces and couldn't resist and bought them all.  They were only $1 each.  Also, I bought two pair of earrings.

Up next I have purses.  I found a multi color vintage bag, a cream satchel and a mustard bag.

Last but not least are my blouses.
From left to right, another leopard blouse (can't get enough of those), a white blouse with black lining on the collar, a floral blouse, the next two blouses are just color ones that I don't have yet, and another polka dot blouse. (can't get enough of those either)

Also, today I was playing around with different outfits to wear when I'm on vacation and here is one of them:
And here is my Easter outfit.

These were pictures taken for my instagram account.  If you didn't know the instagram app is now available for android users too.  So, definitely go and download that app!

DIY: Studded Collar

Here is another quick and fun DIY!  I decided to add studs to the collar of one of the blouses I bought at the thrift store.  By adding studs to the collar, it will make this plain blouse more interesting!  You can add studs to basically anything. Follow the steps below to achieve the look above.

Step 1
Find a blouse that you want to stud.  I bought this blouse for only $2.99.  It's just a really plain cream blouse.  I knew I wanted to add gold studs on the collar right when I bought it.

Step 2
You will need to purchase studs.  I purchased these gold ones from ebay but it took forever to get here, because it was shipped from China.  It was only $5.00 but I found that if you go to studsandspikes.com, you will find inexpensive studs that will ship quickly.  I bought silver studs from there and have studded my shorts with them.  That will be the next DIY post.  I use an old tweezer and it worked fine.

Step 3
(Excuse my chip nailcolor polish)
You can decide how you want to arrange the studs on the collar.  You can add a few studs or add a whole bunch like I did.  I decided to add a whole bunch because the collar is wide, but you can really do whatever you want with it.  Choose your own design and just go with it =)  Poke one of the studs through the collar.  It shouldn't be hard to poke through.

Step 4
Take the tweezer and and just bend the end of the studs over.  Do it to all four of the ends.

Step 5
It should look like this.  And after you have added all of the studs, the back should look like the picture below:

Final Step:
Repeat the steps on the other side of the collar.  Then you are all done!  =)
Here's what mine looks like.  I love it.  I have the day off from work, so I am going to finish a lot of DIY projects and post them next week.

I also bought a DIY book for homes.  I'm so excited to try some of these projects and I love the pictures.  So inspiring!  I also have a friend, who is an artist, creating some artwork for me.  I'm excited cause she is very talented! Well, my next post will be on Sunday.  I look forward to reading how Easter went for everybody.

Just be true to who you are.

(vintage blouse, forever 21 shorts, dolce vita wedges)

I have great news to share.  They accepted my offer, so I am officially a homeowner now!  I will be turning one of the bedrooms into my personal room, where all of my clothes/shoes/purses/etc will go.  I can't wait to start decorating and renovating my new home.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I love this song.  It always gives me motivation to be a better person.
